The general rule of diamond painting is: bigger is always better. Diamond paintings are made up of lots of little drills (diamonds) so the bigger the canvas, the more drills will be used and the more detailed the picture will become.
If you are going to complete a small canvas, choose a simple design. The more \"busy\" the image, the less detail you will be able to achieve with a small canvas.
Each kit includes:
Round and Square refer to the type of drill (aka diamond) that is used to create the mosaic design.
Round drills are circular and typically result in a more shiny finish, are quicker to complete but are sometimes less detailed designs as the drills don't fill the entire design due to their round nature.
Square drills are square and will fix together side by side. Because they are placed flush against each other, they can create a more complete design. However, square designs are slower to complete as you need to be more aware of placement to ensure the drills are aligned straight.

The pink wax that you will find included with your diamond painting kit helps you be able to pick up the drills/diamonds using your special diamond painting tool/pen.
You simply push the tip of your diamond painting pen into the wax to "load" your pen. The tip of your pen will now be filled with the red wax. Now when you try to pick up a drill from your tray, it will lightly stick to the end of your pen and can be then placed onto the sticky canvas.
