If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stuck in your own head, or like your to-do list never actually ends… I see you. That was me too.
Between full-time work, parenting, life stress, and the constant mental noise that comes with ADHD, I was running on empty. My brain never seemed to switch off. Even my hobbies – the things that were meant to be relaxing – started to feel like just another task on the list.
Then I stumbled across diamond painting. And honestly? It changed everything.
It all started in that slow, in-between week after Christmas in 2019. You know the one – where the days blur together and time seems to pause a little. I was scrolling online and came across a diamond painting kit. It looked interesting, a little fiddly, and kind of soothing. I figured, why not?
From the very first few drills, I was hooked.
Something about placing one little gem at a time – following a pattern, watching the image come to life – was exactly what my brain needed. It gave me a way to switch off from the chaos and focus on just one thing for a while. No pressure, no decisions to make. Just colour, sparkle, and quiet.
Like most people, I started with the cheapest kits I could find online. And wow… I learned quickly that not all kits are created equal. Blurry symbols, missing drills, glue that barely held… it was more frustrating than fun.
I started searching for better quality, but couldn’t find anything that really ticked all the boxes – especially from Aussie sellers. That’s when the idea hit me: what if I made the kind of kits I wished existed?
At the time, I already had a background in business, so I started combining that with my love for crafting. I sourced better canvases, tested heaps of drill types, experimented with toolkits, and focused on the little things that make a big difference – like clear symbols, quality glue, and fast local shipping.
And just like that, Blinging Craft was born in 2020.
What started as a creative escape turned into a business built from passion, sparkle, and a desire to make things better for fellow crafters.
Running a small business alongside a full-time job and parenting was never going to be easy – but throw in a pandemic, rising costs, burnout, and some big personal challenges, and things started to slide.
My motivation faded. I was exhausted. Slowly but surely, I stopped showing up for the business. No new kits. No social posts. No late-night craft sessions. It hurt, because Blinging Craft had once brought me so much joy – but I just couldn’t push through the fog anymore.
Still, deep down, I never let it go. Even on the hard days, I missed it.
Over the past year, I made some massive changes in my life. I stepped away from a stressful job that was draining me and started focusing more on my wellbeing and mental health. I gave myself time to rest – real rest – and eventually, the spark came back.
I remembered why I loved this little business so much. The joy of designing new kits. The satisfaction of helping someone else discover a new favourite hobby. The calm that comes from a quiet moment at the craft table, just me and the drills.
And most of all, the community – you. The fellow crafters who understand the magic of this hobby. The ones who get excited over storage containers and wax upgrades. The ones who turn their kits into moments of peace, joy, and accomplishment.
So now? I’m rebuilding Blinging Craft – not from scratch, but with fresh energy and a clearer vision. New kits. Better tools. More fun. More sparkle.
